Sound Bath.
A sound bath is a meditative experience where participants are immersed in soothing sounds, typically produced by instruments like singing bowls, and chimes. These sounds create vibrations that help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and promote deep relaxation. During a sound bath, you'll usually lie down in a comfortable position with your eyes closed, allowing the sounds to wash over you, helping to clear mental clutter and restore balance. The vibrations can also promote emotional healing and even physical pain relief by encouraging a state of peace and mindfulness. It’s a unique way to connect deeply with yourself and experience a sense of rejuvenation.
What Can I Expect?
Arrival & Settle In:
Upon arrival, you’ll sign in and choose a spot to lie down comfortably. The room will likely be lit, and you’ll be encouraged to relax and settle in, using a blanket and/or pillows.Introduction & Sound Bath Begins:
Our sound healer will briefly explain the experience before starting the sound bath with instruments like singing bowls or gongs. You’ll lie back, relax, and let the soothing sounds and vibrations fill the room, helping you unwind.Deep Relaxation & Healing:
As the sounds wash over you, you may experience deep relaxation or emotional release. The vibrations help calm the mind and body, reducing stress and promoting healing.Water Ceremony
The Sound Healer will pour water into a singing bowl and use the vibrations to charge the water and make it “dance”. From this point water is poured into glasses and each participant has the option to drink the water.
Closing & Departure:
The facilitator will gently wind down the sounds, allowing time for you to come back into your body. After a few moments of reflection or stretching, you’ll leave feeling calm, rejuvenated, and balanced.
What Do I Wear?
For a sound bath, it's best to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to relax fully. Here are some tips:
Comfortable Clothing: Wear soft, stretchy clothes like yoga pants, leggings, or loose tops. You want to feel at ease and not restricted.
Layers: Bring a light sweater or blanket in case the room is cool, as you’ll likely be lying still for a while.
Socks: Some people prefer to remove their shoes, so it’s a good idea to wear socks or go barefoot if you feel comfortable doing so.
Minimal Accessories: Avoid wearing jewelry or anything that might distract you or feel uncomfortable during the session.
Ultimately, the goal is to feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible to fully enjoy the experience!
Is Sound Bath Covered by my Extended Health Benefits?
Whether a sound bath is covered by your extended health benefits depends on your specific plan. Generally, extended health benefits may cover services like massage therapy, acupuncture, or physiotherapy, but sound therapy is less commonly included.
However, it’s always worth checking with your insurance provider to see if sound healing or any related services (like holistic or alternative therapies) are covered. Some plans might include complementary therapies under wellness or stress-relief treatments, so it could be worth inquiring. If it's not covered, you could also ask about any coverage for other types of mental wellness or relaxation services that might apply!
